We all love burning candles—they smell amazing and create a sensual and relaxing atmosphere. Eco-friendly candles are becoming more and more common amongst candlemakers and consumers alike. At Amera's Garden we use a blend of soy wax and coconut wax in all of our candles. Here is why:

No Harmful Chemicals

• Soy Wax is non-toxic and cleaner-burning.  Soy wax is made from soybeans and is easy to grow in many regions around the world. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. 

• Soy Wax is made with no toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants which means our candles are less likely to trigger allergies.  As a vegetable-based wax, it does not give off any harmful byproducts or produce black soot. 

• Coconut Wax is a renewable and high-yield crop which means fewer coconuts are needed to get a good amount of product. Making it one of the most eco-friendly waxes on the market.
• Coconut wax is produced by pressing the oil out of the coconut meat and goes through the process of hydrogenation. It is filtered and cleaned giving you 100% natural, and fully biodegradable wax.

Long Lasting Candles

Soy wax and coconut wax have a low melting point and will burn more slowly than paraffin. This means that our candles will last longer and burn more evenly compared to paraffin wax. Even though you'll pay a little more for soy, the fact that your candle will burn longer helps to offset the extra expense. 

Compared To Paraffin Wax 

If you shop around for candles, you will come to find that many are made using paraffin wax. Traditional paraffin wax is derived from petroleum and can contain various toxins, carcinogens, and air pollutants. If you wish to reduce your use of fossil fuels for a greener candle, you may wish to select soy/coconut candles instead of paraffin. Paraffin wax has been the most popular wax to make candles as it's got a good burn quality and most importantly, it's very cheap. Large candle companies want to keep the cost to produce low, so that they can make a great financial return.
